See, we personally love munching on Chicken Crispy while slowly soaking in the awesomeness called alcohol, but we are also empathetic towards those people whose only source of protein is dal and paneer (sorry bruh!) And when it comes to going to a bar with a vegetarian friend, things can get a little haywire at times. Here, we help y’all be stress-free and stay unsobered as we bring to you 9 ‘Vegetarian bars’ in Mumbai. All hail paneer!
Pravas (Lower Parel): If any alcohol lover has read Totto Chan, he or she will know why to be excited when I take Pravas’s name. Justifying its desi name, this SoBo bar is train themed. Proudly categorizing themselves as a ‘Gujarati Bar and Kitchen’, this pure vegetarian place will make every Gujju’s heart swell with pride. Maro sthal che!
Vortex (Marine Lines): This place started with a bang! With happy hours on Sheesha and fabulous music, this cool lounge can make the vegetarian drunk in you really happy. The hole on your wallet can be slightly bigger than you want it to be, but then, Marine Drive is right there and makes up for everything.
90ft Above (Borivali): Situated in Borivali, 90ft Above is a resto-bar that serves mind-blowing Italian and Mughlai food, but only veg. With great ambiance and an awesome view, 90ft Above is perfect for a dinner date. How does a ‘Tulsi Shorbha’ and a ‘Shakaranand Bhel’ sound to you in a place that serves alcohol?
The Bar Terminal (Fort): Situated next to the real BSE (Mumbai drunks have a different idea of BSE) The Bar Terminal will surprise you with a cool as hell drinks menu and some great dishes. Their ‘Kaffir Lime’ is as mean as it gets and their ‘Papad Ki Churi’ is, hands down, the most unique chakna you can call for. What are you waiting for?
Bottle Bar (Fort): How would you like a Fire Bomb with your dinner? Or a Flatliner that takes your taste-buds on a detour with Tabasco and Tequila? As weird as it may sound, Bottles in Fort serves great daaru with some delicious veg food.
Sapphire Restaurant and Bar (Juhu): With an amaze balls bar, and a kick-ass breakfast menu to beat the shit out of the hangover, this place is a vegetarian miracle. Situated in the heart of Juhu, Sapphire is perfect for large group reunions. Or a family gathering, which is by default, large!
L5 Restaurant and Lounge (Chembur): This resto-bar could be the reason for you to fall in love with Chembur. This place serves some quality cocktails, good music, live sports screening (aka seasonal pseudo sports bar), karaoke, live music and also, Jain food (yep, you read that right). Too perfect a package, I must say.
SR Restaurant and Lounge (Charni Road): In the prime area of Charni Road, SR is another pocket friendly resto-bar with much to offer. This place can be converted into a banquet, and the bar will restore your faith in less is more. Paav Bhaji is yummy here and we think it’s time to hail it as a signature daaru dish.
Pavillion Bar (Ghatkopar): Okay, this one is obvious. If it’s placed in Ghatkopar, there is a fairly high chance that it is a vegetarian place (yep, we are being stereotypical). This pure vegetarian place comes with a full bar and lip-smacking Punjabi food. Can we go to the Pavillion, already?
