5 Easy Old Monk-Based Cocktails You Can Make At Home

Old Monk has a cult status that no other spirit could achieve and rightfully so. It’s been the go-to brand for many, irrespective of their age, group and class, for ages. Since we already love Old Monk so much, we have decided to celebrate it through these easy to make cocktail recipes. Fix yourself a couple of them and you will be the star of the next house party.

Rum Sling

Quite a success across many bars (you can try this one in Mumbai at Bar Bar), the Rum Sling is minimal and endearingly sophisticated. And the best part is that you will probably find all the ingredients you need in your own refrigerator.

What you’ll need:

  • 30 ml Bacardi
  • 30 ml Old Monk
  • 60 ml orange juice
  • 15 ml lime juice

Instructions:

  1. Mix all ingredients with ice
  2. Stir and pour into a chilled glass
  3. Garnish with a fresh orange slice and serve

Desi Rum Punch

As the name suggests, this cocktail comes with a desi twist and packs a punch. We aren’t unaware of the fact that Indians have a palette that’s super unique and this cocktail is custom-made for it.

What you’ll need:

  • 45 ml Old Monk
  • A pinch of chaat masala
  • A pinch of black salt
  • 90 ml pineapple juice
  • 10 ml fresh lime juice

Instructions:

  1. Shake all the ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice
  2. Serve over ice, in an old-fashioned glass
  3. Garnish with a pineapple wedge and an oblong, slit green chili

What you’ll need:

  • 60 ml Old Monk
  • 15 ml fresh ginger juice
  • 8 mint leaves
  • 60 ml pineapple juice
  • 1 can ginger ale 
  • 10 ml sugar syrup
  • 10 ml fresh lime juice

Instructions:

  1. Muddle the mint leaves along with sugar syrup and fresh lime juice in a tall glass
  2. Fill the glass up with ice cubes
  3. Add ginger juice, pineapple juice and Old Monk
  4. Top the drink with ginger ale and garnish with candied ginger and a mint sprig

Garden of Eden

If the earthly paradise were to be turned into a drink, it had to be divine. The rum version of Garden of Eden is exquisite, tropical and refreshing. Brownie points to the fact that it can be made with three ingredients. 

What you’ll need:

  • 60 ml Old Monk
  • Fresh lime 1 wedge
  • Apple juice to top

Instructions:

  1. Fill a tall zombie glass with ice cubes
  2. Pour in the rum and top with apple juice
  3. Squeeze the fresh lime wedge and drop the peel in as well
  4. Garnish with a few apple slices and serve

Hurricane

What you’ll need:

  • 90 ml Old Monk
  • 60 ml passion fruit juice
  • 30 ml orange juice
  • 30 ml lime juice
  • 15 ml grenadine or cranberry juice
  • 15 ml sugar syrup

Instructions:

  1. Fill half a shaker with ice and add all the ingredients
  2. Shake well and strain into a glass over ice
