This unsettling book (later turned into an equally unsettling movie) is counted as one of the greats when it comes to dystopian fiction. The murderous Alex and his gang are often seen sipping on a Moloko Plus (a mixture of milk and we’re guessing some drugs), so it’s obvious that a cocktail inspired by them, via Yummy Books, had to have milk and orange as the leads.

What you’ll need:

  • Orange blossom water
  • 7 ml vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp dark brown sugar
  • 89 ml whole milk
  • 37 ml bourbon
  • Orange peel
  • Nutmeg

Instructions:

  • Put a drop of orange blossom water into a shaker
  • Add brown sugar, vanilla extract, milk and bourbon into the shaker and shake for a minute
  • Strain the frothy mixture through a shaker into a glass filled with ice
  • Squeeze an orange peel into the milk punch, drop the peel in
  • Add a pinch of freshly grated nutmeg on top and serve

By now, if you don’t know about The Hunger Games you’ve been living under a really sad rock. The book made waves when it was turned into a movie series starring Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen. But it always hurt me that Primrose, Katniss’ sister, never got a chance to shine. Cosmopolitan saves the day by making a delicate, adorable cocktail inspired by the shy, sweet girl that Primrose is.

  • A splash of ginger ale

Instructions:

  • Shake the rose in a shaker filled with ice
  • Strain into a cocktail glass
  • Top with a splash of ginger ale
  • Garnish with strawberry slice
