You can deny it all you want, but there’s a little Bollywood in all of us. You may not break out into a dance in the middle of the road, but you will at least still hum along to a ‘tan tana tan tan tan tara’. You can’t escape it, we breathe Bollywood. Mumbai bars have truly understood this, and their Bollywood inspired cocktails are proof.
Paan Banaraswala at Dishkiyaaon: Since the name of the bar is so filmy, it’s obvious their drinks would be too. Paan Banaraswala is their take on Amitabh’s classic ‘Don’ and we guarantee it’s just as memorable. Black and White whiskey, lime juice, coconut syrup, paan syrup and pineapple juice, this drink is quite a ride.
Matarghashti at Tamasha: You might like Tamasha, you might hate the movie or not care about it at all but Matargashti – a concoction made of whiskey, orange liqueur, chocolate syrup, green chilli (yep, you read that right) and cinnamon smoke – is very universally likeable.
Bollywood Bhang at Masala Bar: Our movies and bhang share a very close connection. Bhang antics make for some of the most iconic scenes in Bollywood. Paying an ode to this interesting concept, Masala Bar has a cool vodka-based cocktail served with vodka basil dragon smoke. Now, we don’t know about which part of it is Bollywood but it’d still be cool to drink out of a skull-shaped glass.
Maushi Chi at SodaBottleOpenerWala: This drink is as scandalous as the name sounds. Tequila with pineapple juice would have been too simple, so they cranked it up a notch by adding their home brew mixture. What an honest tribute to Jackie.
Laila at True Tramm Trunk: True Tramm Trunk has a Tharra cocktail menu dedicated to various regions and Laila Bihar is an absolute favorite. Inspired by all the hot Lailas Bollywood has blessed us with, this drink is a mix of mawa-infused vodka, sprite and gulkandh. Truly for the desi girl.
