Whenever we plan a night out these days, we make sure we go to a venue with live music on board. There’s just something great about having dinner and drinks while listening to a band/artist serenade you live. If you are new to Mumbai, visit the 5 spots mentioned below to have a great time and discover new musicians.
1. The Stables, Marol
The Stables hosts live music on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays of every week. Sometimes, they will hold special live music events on Sundays as well. The bar charges an entry fee of Rs 500 and a cover charge of Rs 1000 to Rs 2000, depending upon the band that is playing. In the past, Indian bands like Nighttrain, The Lunatunes and Mixtape have played classical rock and pop/retro at this happening bar.
2. The Finch, Powai
The Finch is a popular microbrewery that hosts live music performances for two hours every day of the week. From Sunday to Thursday, performances start at 8:30 pm, and on Friday and Saturday at 9:30 pm. Popular bands like Astrid and The Misfits, and Shannon and The Silent Riot, and artists like Sharad Joshi and Ramil have graced the stage here. There is no entry charge so you get to experience a night of music for free.
3. Door No. 1, Bandra
The award-winning retro bar hosts live music events two days a week – on Tuesdays, established bands/artists are invited to play and Sundays see budding and upcoming bands/artists host a jam session. There is a high chance of stumbling upon some biggies from the Indian music industry as they come to bask in nostalgia here.
4. Hard Rock Cafe, Andheri
The Indian outlets of Hard Rock Cafe have played an instrumental part in bringing the best of the international music scene to the country. Today, you can catch indie bands like The Local Train and popular artists like 2Blue, Papon and Shilpa Rao playing in Mumbai on a Thursday night. An entry fee of Rs 500 is chargeable.
5. Ambrosia Cafe & Deli, Marol
The restro bar hosts live music performances twice a week, on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The performances begin at 8 pm, with regular artists like Arbaaz Khan and Tamal Pandey churning up a mellow groove through Bollywood and Hindi tracks. No entry fee is applicable.
